Agriculture

As a woman in agriculture, you could raise livestock including sheep, cows, and chickens. Or, you could be an expert on the types of crops that can grow in specific soils. Additional fields that are involved in agriculture are large-animal veterinarians, and doctors that study how certain foods affect the chemistry of the body.

According to the United States Department of Agriculture, 31% of farmers in the United States are women. Careers in agriculture include:

  • Farming

  • Agricultural manager

  • Food production supervisor

  • Nutritionist/dietician

  • Soil and plant scientist

  • Animal scientist

Technology is also playing a bigger role in farming. Larger farms use agricultural software for sustainable farming. Learn more about the growth of the agriculture industry by reading our fact sheet.
